Vision

  •  To assist in the creation of attractive, successful neighbourhoods where people want to live and work and contribute to the long term sustainability of the communities.
  •  To prepare the ground for innovation and best practice from intra-industry comparisons and supply chain management key performance indicators, which often produce considerable savings during the construction phase of the investment programme.
  •  To adopt partnering, both as a management system and as a procurement process.
  • To raise the aspirations of people in community affairs and neighbourhood matters, provide  environmental awareness and contribute toward aims of social inclusion.
  • Help create a strong economy that encourages a diverse and competitive supply market, provide a service to contractors and supply chain partners, and deliver as a cost effective supply chain partner of choice.
  • Reduce levels of crime and vandalism within the local communities through employment.
  • To create a platform for the launch of socioeconomic initiatives, such as training and employment schemes, which could provide a sizeable opportunity for local people to train and obtain a vocational qualification in construction and construction-related activities, as well as finding meaningful employment with long term prospects.
  • Provide education and real on the job skills training opportunities.
  • To assist an enterprise culture, whereby micro and small firms can flourish and benefit from the expenditure of the Council’s capital investment programme.
  • To enhance the ‘partnership ethos’ in construction, and provide benchmarks for regulatory impact assessment for future Best Value Inspections.
  • To offer a job not a scheme, a wage not benefits and something around which to build a life.
